Paying for a repair

£50 by card to confirm a visit, the rest how you prefer

Nothing to pay to ask. A £50 hold on your card confirms a visit, and that £50 is the first £50 of your job, not an extra on top. The rest you pay once the work is done and you are happy, by card, bank transfer or cash, with a receipt for every payment.

The three amounts

What a job is made of.

In the order they happen. The call-out is the only figure we publish; the other two are quoted to your job, before anything is booked or done.

  1. The £50 call-out

A visit has a £50 call-out, the same wherever we come out to, agreed before we travel. It is the first £50 of your job, not an extra on top: if you go ahead, it is part of the price you pay, and if you do not, it is all you pay, because it covers the journey and the time spent finding the fault.

A £50 hold on your card confirms the visit: nothing is taken unless we come out, and we release it if you cancel before we set off or we cannot make the visit. If you are not there at the time we agreed and we cannot reach you, the call-out is payable, unless you cancelled before our on-our-way message.

  2. A priority fee, only if you ask for one

A visit or a remote session the next day or the same day is a priority booking you can ask for. A priority visit or session depends on a technician being free. If we can do it, we tell you the priority fee with the call-out or the session price before anything is booked, and same day costs more than next day. If we cannot, it is a standard booking and there is no priority fee. If we confirm a priority visit or session and then cannot make that day, we tell you as soon as we know, it becomes a standard booking, and there is no priority fee. For a visit, the priority fee is payable once we have come out, and for a remote session, once the session starts.

  3. The fixed quote for the repair

One fixed price, agreed in writing before any work starts, parts and time included, and the call-out comes off it. If we cannot fix the fault we quoted for, you pay nothing for the repair. No Fix, No Fee covers the repair, not the call-out.

Where prices start. Jobs start from £50 including VAT: a simple set-up, a printer that will not connect, say, is often the call-out alone, and a repair that needs parts or more time costs more, quoted to you before we start. No job costs less than the call-out, so there is never part of it to refund.

Step by step

When each one is paid.

  1. Tell us the fault: nothing to pay

A first opinion by message is free. Before anyone travels we tell you what the repair is likely to cost, and whether it is worth a visit at all.

  2. Book a visit: a £50 hold on your card

The message that confirms your booking carries a link to a secure Stripe page, where you place the hold. It is not a payment, and the link always begins with book.stripe.com.

  3. We come out: the call-out is taken from the hold

Once we have come out to you, we take the £50 call-out from the hold, and any priority fee you agreed is payable too. If you cancel before we set off, or we cannot make the visit, we release the hold instead.

  4. The repair: the rest, once it is done

You approve the fixed quote first. You pay the rest once the work is done and you are happy: by card in person, on a secure Stripe page from a link we send, by bank transfer against our invoice, or in cash. Every payment gets a receipt. For a home, that is on the day. A business can ask to pay against an invoice within 14 days instead, agreed before the job starts.

A remote session is one fixed price, agreed in writing before we connect, and if we cannot connect there is nothing to pay. You pay it the same ways as a repair: by card on a Stripe page, or by bank transfer against the invoice.

Ways to pay the rest

Your choice, with a receipt every time.

Receipts, invoices and VAT

Every payment gets a receipt, and every job an invoice, by email. From 1 November 2026, all our prices include VAT, and your invoice shows it. We do not add VAT on top of a price we have quoted you.

For a business

For a home, that is on the day. A business can ask to pay against an invoice within 14 days instead, agreed before the job starts. An invoice paid late carries interest and compensation under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998. Ongoing IT support with monthly billing is our sister company, Dacros, not JorTech.

Your card details

The hold and every card payment go through Stripe, our payment provider. We never see or keep your full card number, and this website itself takes no payment. How Stripe handles your details is in our privacy policy.

What is never refunded, because it never arises

No job costs less than the call-out, so there is never part of it to give back. If you cancel a booking before we set off, the hold is released in full. If you cancel a job within your 14 days, we refund what you have paid, less the work done up to then, within 14 days and by the way you paid. The details are in sections 8 and 14 of our terms.

FAQ

The honest answers on paying.

Do I pay anything to ask?

No. Telling us the fault in a message gets you a first opinion, free, and you are under no obligation. Before anyone travels we tell you what the repair is likely to cost, and some faults we can sort over our secure remote link, or tell you honestly are not worth a visit.

Is the £50 hold a payment?

No. A £50 hold on your card confirms the visit: nothing is taken unless we come out, and we release it if you cancel before we set off or we cannot make the visit. The money stays in your account, set aside by your bank. Once we have come out, we take the £50 call-out from it. A hold lasts about a week, so for a visit further away than that we send the link nearer the day.

Is the £50 on top of the repair price?

No. A visit has a £50 call-out, the same wherever we come out to, agreed before we travel. It is the first £50 of your job, not an extra on top: if you go ahead, it is part of the price you pay, and if you do not, it is all you pay, because it covers the journey and the time spent finding the fault.

What if the job comes to less than £50?

It cannot. Jobs start from £50 including VAT: a simple set-up, a printer that will not connect, say, is often the call-out alone, and a repair that needs parts or more time costs more, quoted to you before we start. No job costs less than the call-out, so there is never part of it to refund.

Which cards and wallets do you take?

Visa, Mastercard and American Express, through Stripe, in person on our phone or on a Stripe page from a link we send. Apple Pay and Google Pay work the same way where your phone or browser offers them. We never see or keep your full card number, and this website itself takes no payment.

Can I pay by bank transfer or cash?

Yes, for the rest of a job once the work is done. Our bank details are on the invoice we send you and nowhere else: if a message ever asks you to pay to different details, stop and get in touch. Cash is fine too, and you get a receipt either way.

Can my business pay by invoice?

For a home, that is on the day. A business can ask to pay against an invoice within 14 days instead, agreed before the job starts. A business invoice paid late carries interest and compensation under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998, which we would rather never mention again.

Is VAT included?

Yes. From 1 November 2026, every price we quote includes VAT, and your invoice shows it. We do not add VAT on top of a price we have quoted you.

Will I get a receipt?

Every payment gets a receipt, and every job gets an invoice, by email. Keep them: the 90-day guarantee on our work runs from the date on the invoice.

What happens if you cannot fix it?

If we cannot fix the fault we quoted for, you pay nothing for the repair. No Fix, No Fee covers the repair, not the call-out. The call-out covers the journey and the time spent finding the fault, and any priority fee you asked for is payable once we have come out.
