JorTech advised that replacing the screen wouldn’t be economically viable
Caitlin’s television had been knocked over and the screen was gone. The easy money was a panel replacement: quote it, fit it, charge for it. Instead, she was told not to pay for it, a cracked panel is most of what a television costs, and we would rather say so than take the money to find out.
What saved the set was a donor: a second television of the exact same model with faulty boards and an intact screen. The working electronics came out of the damaged set and went into the donor, and between the two she got one fully working television instead of a write-off.
My TV was knocked over and suffered significant screen damage. After assessing it, JorTech advised that replacing the screen wouldn't be economically viable due to the high repair cost. Instead, he came up with a cost-effective solution by removing the functioning electrical components from my damaged TV and transferring them into another TV of the exact same model that had faulty internal electronics. This allowed me to restore a fully working TV without having to replace my expensive television altogether.

A cracked panel is most of what a television costs, so replacing it is very rarely worth doing, and I would rather say so than take the money to find out. Your two sets between them had one working screen and one working set of boards, which is a happier ending than most. Not every job has a second TV sitting there, but it is always worth asking before anything gets written off.
