Printer setup and fixes in Leeds

Printers are the thing that works perfectly until the one morning you actually need them, and then sit there saying offline for no reason you can see. Tell us the make and what it is doing, and we come to you and get it talking to your computer and your phone again, where you actually print from. A printer working on our bench is no use to you in the back bedroom, so we set it up in the room it lives in. The look is free and you get a fixed quote before any work begins.

What we do

Name the fault, then the fix, then the price

  1. Tell us the make and model and what it is doing on the phone, so we arrive knowing what we are looking at
  2. We come to you across Leeds, at home or at work, and set the printer up where you actually use it, on the network and the devices you print from day to day
  3. Offline and will not connect: we work out whether it has dropped off the Wi-Fi, lost its place on the network, or is stuck in a queue that has jammed, because those look identical from where you sit and are different fixes
  4. Wi-Fi setup: we get the printer back onto your network and keep it there, which is the fix after a new router has changed the network name or password out from under it
  5. Drivers and software: we put the right driver on for your exact model and get shot of the half-installed one that is fighting it, rather than the generic one that prints blank pages
  6. Every device: we make sure it prints from the computer, the laptop and the phone, not just the one machine, so you are not fixed on Monday and stuck on Tuesday
  7. Scanning: we get the scan side working back to the computer, which often stops when the print side is reinstalled and nobody sets the scanning back up
  8. Print quality: faint, streaky or lined printing is usually the heads, the alignment or a cartridge, and we will tell you honestly whether a clean sorts it or the printer is genuinely near the end
  9. We will be straight when a printer is simply worn out or would cost more to keep in ink than to replace, rather than charge you to nurse it along. One fixed quote before any work begins

How long it takes

An honest answer, not a booking slot

Most printer trouble is sorted inside the visit. Getting one back onto the Wi-Fi, putting the right driver on, clearing a jammed queue, or setting a new printer up from the box and onto every device is usually the same visit. Print-quality faults are quick to judge: a head clean and an alignment are done there and then, and if the honest answer is that the printer is worn out, you will hear that on the day. Anything that waits on a part or a cartridge for your exact model takes as long as that takes to reach you, and we will say so when we quote. You will know at the point we quote, not afterwards.

What it costs

The diagnosis is free, then you get a fixed quote

We do not publish a price list, because a price list for this work would be a fiction: the same fault costs different money on different machines. What we can do is tell you what moves the number, then give you one fixed quote before any work starts. If we cannot fix it, there is nothing to pay.

Questions

The things people ask

My printer says offline but it is switched on. Why?

Offline almost never means the printer is off. It usually means the computer has lost its route to the printer: the printer has dropped off the Wi-Fi, its place on the network has changed, or a print job has jammed the queue so nothing else will go through. From where you sit those all look the same, which is why pressing print harder never helps. We find out which of them it actually is and put it right, and get it printing from every device rather than just the one.

It stopped working after I got a new router. Can you fix that?

Yes, and this is one of the most common printer callouts there is. A new router usually comes with a new network name and password, and the printer is still looking for the old ones, so it quietly drops off and will not come back. We get it onto the new network and set up so it stays there, and make sure every device that needs it, the computers and the phones, can find it again.

It prints from my laptop but not from my phone. How do I fix that?

That is normally because the printer was only ever set up on the laptop, and the phone was never properly introduced to it, or they are not on the same network. We set the printer up on every device you want to print from, and check they are all talking to it over the same network, so you are not left fixed on one and stuck on the other.

The printing is faint and streaky. Is the printer finished?

Not necessarily, and it is worth finding out before you replace it. Faint, streaky or lined printing is often a blocked or dry print head, an alignment that has drifted, or a cartridge on its way out, and a proper clean and alignment brings a lot of printers back. Sometimes, though, a printer is genuinely worn out, or costs more to keep in ink than it would to replace, and we will tell you that honestly rather than have you spend good money nursing it along.

How much does it cost to sort my printer?

We do not publish a figure, because getting a printer back on the Wi-Fi and setting a new one up across a houseful of devices are not the same job. You get a free look, then one fixed quote before any work begins. And if the honest answer is that the printer is worn out or not worth keeping, we will tell you that at no charge rather than take money to nurse it along.

Is your work guaranteed after the repair?

Yes. We stand behind the repairs we carry out. If the same fault we fixed returns within a reasonable period as a result of our work, get in touch and we will put it right. That does not cover new or unrelated faults, accidental damage, liquid damage, or problems caused by other work carried out after ours, and nothing in it affects your statutory rights.
