Emergency computer repair in Leeds

Machines break at the wrong time, and this is the page for the ones that do. We are open day and night, Sunday to Friday, and closed on Saturdays, so at two in the morning on a Tuesday your enquiry reaches the people who do the work rather than a queue. Tell us what happened and we will tell you straight what can be dealt with now and what sensibly waits.

Do this right now

Happening right now? Do this first

  1. If liquid went into it, switch it off and unplug the charger before anything else. Every second it stays powered with liquid inside risks the board.
  2. If the drive is clicking, grinding or repeating a noise, stop powering it on. Every restart spends reads it may not have left.
  3. If the battery is swollen or the case is bulging, stop charging it, keep it off soft furnishings, and do not press on it.
  4. Otherwise, leave it alone rather than trying the heroic end of the internet's advice. Tired repairs on important machines are how one problem becomes two.
  5. Send us an enquiry. We read every enquiry day and night, Sunday to Friday, and the advice by message is free whatever the hour.

What we do

Name the fault, then the fix, then the price

  1. Read every enquiry day and night, Sunday to Friday, and tell you honestly what you are dealing with before anything is agreed

  2. Separate the two problems: rescuing the work that is due, and repairing the machine

  3. Fix what can genuinely be fixed over a secure link the same night, with your say-so and while you watch

  4. Tell you plainly when something cannot be done tonight, rather than take money to look busy

  5. Quote a minimum call-out before we travel, which comes off the price if you go ahead

  6. Give you one fixed quote before anything is opened, and no fix, no fee on the repair itself

The part most people get wrong

There are two clocks here, and they are not the same one

The first clock is how long before somebody who knows the work has read your enquiry, and we read every one, any hour from Sunday through Friday. The second is how long the repair itself takes, and that depends entirely on the fault and on your exact model. People collapse the two and assume that because nobody is open, nothing can happen until morning. Often something can. Separating the two is usually the whole value of getting in touch.

Tonight, or not tonight

What can honestly be sorted now, and what waits

Faults that live in software can often be fixed over a secure link the same night, while you watch: an update loop, a sign-in problem, a machine crawling when you need it working, a document that will not open, a mailbox that has stopped. Hardware cannot be fixed down a link at any hour, and we will not pretend otherwise. But even then the right move at midnight is usually not a repair, it is getting tonight's work off the machine and agreeing a plan for the morning, and that is exactly what a message can sort. Liquid damage and a failing drive are the two we will not put a clock on at all, because both are made worse by rushing.

Sunday

Sunday is a normal working day here

It is the day most repair shops in Leeds are shut and the week is already in front of you, which is why it is worth saying plainly. Saturday is the one day we are closed. If something has gone wrong on a Sunday, send an enquiry rather than spend the evening guessing, because the first job is almost always making sure the work and the family files are safe, so the deadline stops depending on the repair.

How long it takes

An honest answer, not a booking slot

Every enquiry is read, any hour from Sunday to Friday. A software fault sorted over a link is often done inside the session, the same night. Anything needing hands on the machine happens at the next time that genuinely suits you, and anything waiting on a part for your exact model depends on how quickly it reaches us, which can be a few days. Liquid damage and a failing drive we will not put a clock on, because both get worse when they are rushed. You will know which of those yours is in our reply, not afterwards.

What it costs

Free advice by message, a call-out quoted first, then a fixed price

Telling us the fault in a message costs nothing, and it is worth doing first: some faults we can sort over a remote link without anybody travelling. If it needs a visit there is a minimum call-out, quoted before we travel, and it comes off the price if you go ahead. We do not publish a price list beyond that, because a price list for this work would be a fiction: the same fault costs different money on different machines. What we can do is tell you what moves the number, then give you one fixed quote before any work starts. If we cannot fix the fault we quoted for, there is no repair fee.

Questions

The things people ask

Are you really open in the middle of the night?

Yes, Sunday to Friday. We are a come-to-you service rather than a shop, so we read every enquiry day and night across those days and the advice by message is free whatever the hour. Saturday is the one day we are closed.

Do you charge more at night or on a Sunday?

The model does not change with the clock. Advice by message is free, a remote session is one fixed price agreed before we connect, and a visit carries a minimum call-out quoted before we travel which comes off the price if you go ahead. We do not publish a tariff for any hour, because the honest number depends on the fault, and you hear it before anything begins.

Can you actually come out tonight?

Send an enquiry and we will tell you straight, because the honest answer depends on where you are and what the fault is, and we would rather say so than book a slot we cannot keep. What we will not do is promise an arrival time just to close the conversation. A good number of urgent faults turn out not to need a visit at all, and that is the first thing worth finding out.

My deadline file is on the machine and it will not start. Is it gone?

Usually not. Most programs autosave constantly, cloud services keep version history, and email drafts and sent items hold more of your work than you expect. Even when the machine will not start, the file is normally sitting intact on the drive, and getting files off a machine that will not boot is routine work. The honest exception is a drive failing mechanically: if it is clicking or grinding, stop powering it on and treat the files as the whole job.

Is it worth getting in touch at midnight, or should I wait for morning?

Send an enquiry. At worst you get a free, honest answer about what you are dealing with and what not to do in the meantime, which is often the thing that saves the machine. At best it is a software fault and it is sorted over a link before you go to bed.

Is your work guaranteed after the repair?

Yes. We stand behind the repairs we carry out. If the same fault we fixed returns as a result of our work, get in touch and we will put it right at no charge. Inside 90 days we do that without argument. Past 90 days we will still look at it on its merits, because a reasonable period for a fitted screen and a reasonable period for a fifteen-year-old desktop are not the same thing. This sits on top of your statutory rights, not instead of them, and those last longer. It does not cover new or unrelated faults, accidental damage, liquid damage, or problems caused by other work carried out after ours.
