Email help and setup in Leeds

When email stops, it is rarely obvious whose fault it is, and that is the first thing worth knowing. A mailbox that will not sign in is one problem, mail that is arriving on the computer but not the phone is another, and an outage at your provider is neither. Tell us what it is doing and on which device, and we come to you, work out which of those it actually is, and get your email arriving and sending again everywhere you read it. Advice by message is free and you get a fixed quote before any work begins.

Does this sound like yours?

The faults we see most

Not on the list? Send an enquiry anyway and describe it. Describing it to us in a message is free either way.

What we do

Name the fault, then the fix, then the price

  1. Tell us in your message what it is doing and on which device, so we can arrive with a fair idea of whether it is a password, a setting, or the provider

  2. We come to you across Leeds, at home or at work, and set it up on the devices you actually read your email on, because a fix on one machine is no use if the phone in your pocket is still broken

  3. First we work out whose problem it is: a mailbox or password issue is one job, mail landing in spam is a records problem on your domain, and an outage at your provider is theirs and not yours. A lot of the time that is clear from what you tell us in your message, which is free, and it can save you a repair you never needed

  4. Setup in Outlook, Apple Mail and the phone's own mail app: we get the account connecting properly, with the right settings, rather than the half-configured version that syncs some folders and not others

  5. Every device: we make sure it arrives and sends the same way on your computer, your laptop, your tablet and your phone, so you are not fixing one and losing another

  6. Moving to a new device: we carry your email, your folders and your contacts across to the new phone or laptop, and we do not clear anything off the old one until you have seen it has all arrived

  7. A full mailbox: we find what is filling it, usually years of large attachments, and clear the space safely without deleting anything you want to keep, so mail starts coming in again

  8. Moving to a new address: we set the new one up, bring your old messages and contacts across, and set things up so mail to your old address still reaches you while people move over

  9. You get a fixed quote before any work begins, and if it turns out to be the provider rather than you, we will show you and there is nothing to pay for a repair

How long it takes

An honest answer, not a booking slot

Most email trouble is sorted inside the visit: a password or a setting put right, an account set up on a new phone, or a mailbox cleared down. Moving email across to a new device takes as long as the amount of it decides, and years of stored mail with large attachments is an unhurried job rather than a rushed one, because it is the one you do not want to do twice. Anything that waits on your email provider, a recovery, a reset, or an outage at their end, takes as long as they take, and we will tell you honestly when that is where you are rather than bill you to sit and wait. You will know at the point we quote.

What it costs

Free advice by message, a call-out quoted first, then a fixed price

Telling us the fault in a message costs nothing, and it is worth doing first: some faults we can sort over a remote link without anybody travelling. If it needs a visit there is a minimum call-out, quoted before we travel, and it comes off the price if you go ahead. We do not publish a price list beyond that, because a price list for this work would be a fiction: the same fault costs different money on different machines. What we can do is tell you what moves the number, then give you one fixed quote before any work starts. If we cannot fix the fault we quoted for, there is no repair fee.

Questions

The things people ask

My email keeps asking for my password even though it is definitely right. Why?

That is one of the most common email faults there is, and it is almost never the password itself. It is usually a setting that has changed, a security change at your provider that the mail app has not caught up with, or an app that needs signing out and back in properly. Many providers now also need a special app password rather than your normal one for older mail apps, which catches people out. We find out which of those it is and get it connecting again, rather than have you type the same password another twenty times.

My email works on my computer but not on my new phone. Can you set it up?

Yes, and it is a job we do all the time. Email arriving on one device and not another is usually a setup or a settings difference between them, or the phone was never properly introduced to the account. We set it up correctly on the phone, and make sure it is configured the same way everywhere you read it, so you are not fixed on the computer and stuck on the phone.

Can you move all my old emails to a new computer without losing them?

Yes. We carry your email, your folders and your contacts across to the new machine and check together that everything has arrived, and we do not wipe or hand back the old computer until you have seen for yourself that nothing is missing. Years of stored email is worth doing carefully rather than quickly, because it is exactly the sort of thing you do not want to have to do twice.

My emails to other people keep going into their spam. Is that something you can fix?

Sometimes, and the first job is finding out why. Describing it in a message costs you nothing. If it is your own email address on your own domain, mail landing in spam is usually a records problem on that domain, and that is a fix we can look at. If it is a free email account, there is less to change and it often comes down to the content or how new the account is. We will tell you honestly which situation you are in rather than promise a fix that is not ours to make.

How much does email help cost?

We do not publish a figure, because a password put right and a full move of years of email to a new machine are not the same job. You get free advice by message, then we work out whether it is a password, a setting, a migration or the provider, and then one fixed quote before any work begins. If it turns out to be the provider rather than anything on your side, we will show you and there is nothing to pay for a repair.

Is your work guaranteed after the repair?

Yes. We stand behind the repairs we carry out. If the same fault we fixed returns as a result of our work, get in touch and we will put it right at no charge. Inside 90 days we do that without argument. Past 90 days we will still look at it on its merits, because a reasonable period for a fitted screen and a reasonable period for a fifteen-year-old desktop are not the same thing. This sits on top of your statutory rights, not instead of them, and those last longer. It does not cover new or unrelated faults, accidental damage, liquid damage, or problems caused by other work carried out after ours.
