How it works

Events

Live streaming and event tech in Leeds

Some of the people who should be in the room cannot get there. A funeral happens too quickly to book a flight, the family is spread across three countries, someone is too unwell to travel. We set up and run the technology so they still see it properly: the camera, the sound, and a stream that holds for the whole thing. It gets built and tested before anyone arrives, and somebody watches it the whole way through, because there is no second take on a day like that.

The faults we see most

Not on the list? Call anyway and describe it. The diagnosis is free either way.

What we do

Name the fault, then the fix, then the price

  1. Talk it through first, on the phone: what the event is, where it is, roughly how many people are watching from elsewhere, and how they will watch. That conversation is free and it is where most of the decisions get made

  2. Check the venue's connection honestly before the day, because a venue saying it has Wi-Fi is not the same as it being able to carry a stream. If it will not, we sort another way of getting online rather than finding out live

  3. Set the camera where it sees what matters and not the back of people's heads, and get the sound from the source rather than from the room, because bad sound loses a viewer faster than a bad picture

  4. Arrive early and test it properly against the real room and the real connection, not a rehearsal of it

  5. Send whoever is watching a link that works on a phone, a tablet or a television, without them needing an account or any setup at their end. Older relatives abroad should not have to install anything

  6. Run it on the day. Somebody watches the stream itself for the whole event, so if something goes wrong it is noticed and fixed rather than discovered afterwards

  7. Record it at the same time where you want that, so there is a copy to keep and to send on to anyone who missed it

  8. Pack down afterwards without getting in the way of the day

How long it takes

An honest answer, not a booking slot

Setup is usually an hour or two before the event, longer for a venue we have not seen or a connection that needs sorting. We would rather arrive early and be sitting waiting than arrive on time and be rushing. For a funeral, where the notice is often only a few days, ring as soon as you know the date and we will tell you straight whether it can be done properly in the time.

What it costs

The diagnosis is free, then you get a fixed quote

We do not publish a price list, because a price list for this work would be a fiction: the same fault costs different money on different machines. What we can do is tell you what moves the number, then give you one fixed quote before any work starts. If we cannot fix it, there is nothing to pay.

Questions

The things people ask

Can you do a funeral at short notice?

Often, and it is the most common reason people ring. Funerals are arranged quickly and the family abroad usually cannot fly in time, which is exactly the situation this exists for. Ring as soon as you have the date. If there is not enough time to do it properly, we will say so rather than take the booking and hope.

What do the people watching need to do?

Open a link. No account, no app, no setting anything up, and it works on a phone, a tablet or a smart television. That matters more than it sounds, because the people watching are often older, often abroad, and should not have to be talked through an installation on the morning of a funeral.

Will it definitely not cut out?

Nobody honest can promise that, and anyone who does is guessing about a venue's internet. What we do instead is check the connection before the day rather than on it, arrange another way online if it will not hold, test everything against the real room, and have a person watching the stream throughout so a problem is caught in seconds rather than found out afterwards.

Is it recorded as well?

It can be, and most people want it. The recording is yours: to keep, and to send to anyone who could not watch live or who wants to see it again. Tell us up front so it is set up that way from the start.

Can you cover a ceremony and a reception in different places?

Yes, though it changes the shape of the day and the price, so it is worth saying at the first phone call rather than on the morning. Two locations means either moving between them with a gap, or covering them differently.

Is this only for funerals?

No. Weddings, christenings, naming ceremonies, milestone birthdays, memorials, church and community events, and business events where people join remotely. Funerals lead because that is where the need is most urgent, not because it is all we do.

Do we need to know anything technical?

No, and you should not have to on the day. You tell us what the event is and who needs to see it. We handle the rest and run it ourselves, so nobody in the family ends up operating equipment at their own event.

Is your work guaranteed after the repair?

Yes. We stand behind the repairs we carry out. If the same fault we fixed returns as a result of our work, get in touch and we will put it right at no charge. Inside 90 days we do that without argument. Past 90 days we will still look at it on its merits, because a reasonable period for a fitted screen and a reasonable period for a fifteen-year-old desktop are not the same thing. This sits on top of your statutory rights, not instead of them, and those last longer. It does not cover new or unrelated faults, accidental damage, liquid damage, or problems caused by other work carried out after ours.
