For students

Laptop and phone repair for students in Leeds

A laptop that will not start the night before a hand-in, a MacBook that will not charge, a cracked phone, Wi-Fi in a shared house that drops when everyone is online. We come to your door in Headingley, Hyde Park, Woodhouse, the city centre and across Leeds, or collect the machine and bring it back.

What usually needs doing

The jobs we see.

  • A laptop or MacBook that will not boot, will not charge, or has slowed to a crawl before a deadline
  • The dissertation, the coursework and the photos safely off a machine that has died
  • A cracked phone or iPad screen, or a battery that does not last a day of lectures
  • A drink spilled on a laptop in a shared house
  • Wi-Fi that drops in the back bedroom of a house-share, or a printer that will not connect
  • A second-hand laptop made usable again, or an honest view on whether it is worth fixing

The services

What we do for you.

How it works here

The same deal, at your place.

Tell us the fault and the deadline. You get a free first opinion: what it sounds like, whether it is worth doing, and what it is likely to cost, before anyone travels. Where the deadline matters more than the machine, we say so, and the first thing we look at is getting your work off it safely.

If it needs a visit, we come to your door, a room in a house-share or a flat in a block included, or collect the machine and bring it back, so nothing goes into town on the bus. Faults in the software we can often fix over our own secure link while you watch, wherever you are studying.

You get one fixed quote before any work starts, and No Fix, No Fee on the repair. The deal is the one anyone gets: a £50 call-out, agreed before we travel and credited to your repair, and the quote is the price you pay.

A free first opinion. Tell us the fault and we tell you what it sounds like, whether it is worth doing, and what it is likely to cost, before anyone travels. The diagnosis itself is on the visit, and the call-out pays for it.

The £50 call-out. A visit has a £50 call-out, the same wherever we come out to, agreed before we travel. It is the first £50 of your job, not an extra on top: if you go ahead, it is part of the price you pay, and if you do not, it is all you pay, because it covers the journey and the time spent finding the fault.

One fixed quote. You get one fixed quote, agreed in writing, before any work starts. If we cannot fix the fault we quoted for, you pay nothing for the repair. No Fix, No Fee covers the repair, not the call-out.

What we do not do. We do not sell laptops or insurance, and we are not your university's IT service: university accounts, software licences and campus networks are theirs to sort. We repair the machine you own. Dacros, IT support for business.

FAQ

The questions we get asked.

I have a deadline. Can you get it fixed in time?

Tell us the deadline when you get in touch and we will be straight with you about whether it can be done. A visit the same day or the next day is a priority booking you can ask for, if a technician is free, with a priority fee we tell you before anything is booked. If the machine cannot be fixed in time, the first job is usually getting your work off it safely, so the deadline is not riding on the repair.

Is it priced differently for students?

Every job is priced the same way, student or not: a free first opinion, a £50 call-out agreed before we travel and credited to your repair, and one fixed quote before any work. What saves money is the honest answer up front: if a repair is not worth it, we say so before you spend anything.

My laptop is still under warranty or insured. Should I come to you?

Use the warranty or the insurance first if the fault is covered, and we will tell you so rather than take the job. If it is not covered, or the cover has run out, we come to you.

I live in a shared house. Do you need to come inside?

Only as far as makes sense. We are used to looking at a laptop in a bedroom of a house-share rather than expecting a spare desk, and if you would rather not have anyone in the house you can hand the machine over at the door, or we collect it and bring it back.
