How long it takes
An honest answer, not a booking slot
Most smart home setup is done inside the visit: speakers, bulbs, plugs, a camera or a doorbell onto the wifi, into the apps, and shown to you working. A whole house of kit from different makers being made to work together as one system is a longer, unhurried job, because doing it properly means naming, grouping and testing each piece, and that is worth more than a rushed handover. Where the real trouble turns out to be the wifi not reaching a device, sorting that can be its own piece of work, and we will tell you honestly if that is what is needed. You will know at the point we quote.

We do not publish a price list, because a price list for this work would be a fiction: the same fault costs different money on different machines. What we can do is tell you what moves the number, then give you one fixed quote before any work starts. If we cannot fix it, there is nothing to pay.

The things people ask
My smart devices keep dropping offline. Is that the devices or the wifi?
Far more often the wifi than the devices, and it is worth knowing which before you replace anything. Smart bulbs, plugs, cameras and doorbells all lean on your wifi reaching them steadily, and they are often placed at the edges of the house, the front door, the garden, the far bedroom, exactly where the signal is weakest. We check where the signal actually goes rather than blaming the app, and if the real fix is the wifi reaching that spot, we will tell you that plainly.
Can you get my cameras so I can see them when I am out?
Yes. We set the cameras or the video doorbell up, onto the wifi and into the app, so you can see them from your phone while you are away, and we share them to everyone in the house who should have access rather than just the one phone that did the setup. We will also talk you through what each camera can and cannot see and who has access, so it is set up sensibly rather than left wide open.
None of my smart kit is from the same brand and it will not work together. Can you sort that?
Usually, yes. Kit from different makers rarely plays nicely on its own, but a lot of it can be brought together through the right app or hub, or through a shared assistant like Alexa or Google, so it behaves as one system rather than five separate apps. We work out what your particular mix can and cannot do together, set up what will, and are honest about anything that genuinely will not talk to the rest.
Can you fit a video doorbell?
It depends on the doorbell. A battery-powered one, or one that uses your existing low-voltage doorbell wiring, we can set up, get onto the wifi and into the app. One that needs new mains wiring is an electrician's job, not ours, and we will tell you that plainly rather than take on work that is not our trade. Whichever yours is, the wifi, the app and the device setup is squarely what we do.
How much does smart home setup cost?
We do not publish a figure, because setting up one speaker and tying a whole house of different kit together are not the same job. You get a free look, we work out how much there is to set up and to link together, and then one fixed quote before any work begins. If the real trouble turns out to be the wifi not reaching your devices, we will tell you that honestly rather than sell you setup work that cannot fix it.
Is your work guaranteed after the repair?
Yes. We stand behind the repairs we carry out. If the same fault we fixed returns within a reasonable period as a result of our work, get in touch and we will put it right. That does not cover new or unrelated faults, accidental damage, liquid damage, or problems caused by other work carried out after ours, and nothing in it affects your statutory rights.
