Gaming PC repair and custom builds in Leeds

A gaming machine that will not post, throttles under load, or drops out mid game is usually one specific thing, and guessing at it gets expensive fast. Tell us the spec if you know it and exactly when it misbehaves, at the desktop, on boot, or only when a game pushes it. We come to you, find the real fault for nothing, and quote a fixed price before anything is opened. If you want a new machine built, we will spec it honestly to what you actually play, not to the biggest numbers on the box.

What we do

Name the fault, then the fix, then the price

  1. Tell us the spec if you have it and exactly when it plays up on the phone, so we arrive with the right idea and the right kit
  2. We come to you across Leeds, at home or at work, because nobody wants to unplug a full desk setup, the monitors, the peripherals and the cabling, and cart a heavy tower across town. You can drop it to us instead if that suits you
  3. No post: we work through the power, the memory, the graphics card and the board in order, reseating and testing rather than condemning. A machine with fans and lights but no picture is very often a memory or a seating fault, not a dead board, and we will prove it before we call anything
  4. Crashes only under load: we read the crash records the machine has already written and test the parts a game actually leans on, the memory, the graphics card and the power delivery, rather than reinstalling Windows and hoping
  5. Overheating and thermal throttling: we measure the temperatures under load, clear the dust from the coolers, renew the thermal paste, check the case airflow and the fan curves, then run it hard to confirm the temperatures hold before we hand it back
  6. Graphics card faults: artefacts, no output, or crashing under load. We test the card in isolation, check it is seated and properly powered, and tell you honestly whether it is a fix, a reseat, or a card that has genuinely failed
  7. Upgrades: we tell you which single change your machine will actually feel, because it is often not the one people expect. We check what your board and power supply will genuinely take before anything is bought, so you are not paying for a card the rest of the machine cannot feed
  8. Custom builds: we spec the machine to what you actually play and to a real budget, order the parts, build it, cable it tidily, install Windows and your drivers, and stress test it properly before it comes to you. We will not sell you headroom you will never use
  9. Your saves, your library and your files are the aim to keep intact, and if a job puts them at risk we say so and back them up first
  10. You get a fixed quote before any work begins, and if it cannot be fixed or is not worth the money, we say so and you pay nothing

How long it takes

An honest answer, not a booking slot

Crashes, throttling and software faults are often diagnosed inside the visit, and a clean, a repaste and a fan sort are usually same day once the machine is in hand. Anything waiting on a part, a graphics card, a power supply, memory or a cooler for your exact setup, depends on how quickly it reaches us, which can be a few days. A full custom build is not a same-day job done properly: the parts have to be gathered, the machine built and cabled with care, and then stress tested long enough to trust it, which is worth the wait rather than a rushed handover. Whichever yours is, you will know at the point we quote.

What it costs

The diagnosis is free, then you get a fixed quote

We do not publish a price list, because a price list for this work would be a fiction: the same fault costs different money on different machines. What we can do is tell you what moves the number, then give you one fixed quote before any work starts. If we cannot fix it, there is nothing to pay.

Questions

The things people ask

My PC turns on, the fans spin and the lights come on, but there is no picture. Is the board dead?

Usually not. Fans and lights with no picture, no post and no beep is most often the memory needing reseating, a graphics card that has worked loose or lost power, or a single part stopping the machine from starting. A genuinely dead board is the last thing we conclude, not the first. We work through the power, the memory, the card and the board in order and prove where the fault is, rather than reaching for the most expensive answer and hoping.

It only crashes when I am gaming, never on the desktop. Why?

Because a game is the only thing that fully loads the machine, and load is what exposes the weak part. The three usual suspects are heat, the graphics card, and the power delivery, and sometimes memory that is only unstable when it is pushed. A crash on the desktop points one way and a crash only under load points another, which is exactly why we ask when it happens. We test the parts a game actually leans on and read what the machine logged when it fell over, rather than wiping Windows and hoping the fault went with it.

My frame rate drops the longer I play and the fans get loud. Is that overheating?

That is the classic sign of thermal throttling. When a processor or a graphics card gets too hot it deliberately slows itself down to stay safe, and you feel that as the frame rate falling away after a while. The usual causes are dust clogging the coolers, thermal paste that has dried out, poor case airflow, or a fan that has failed. We measure the temperatures under load, sort the cooling properly, and then run it hard to confirm it holds, rather than guessing.

Is it worth upgrading my PC or should I build a new one?

We will give you a straight answer either way, at no charge. If the machine is fundamentally sound and one part is holding it back, an upgrade costs a fraction of a new build and you keep everything set up as you like it. There is a point where the rest of the machine cannot keep up with a new graphics card, or the power supply cannot feed it, and throwing a dear part at it is wasted money. If a new build genuinely makes more sense, we will say so and spec it to what you play.

Do you build custom PCs, and will you just sell me the most expensive parts?

We build to a brief and a budget, and no. The point of a custom machine is that it is matched to what you actually play and the resolution you play at, not stacked with headroom you will never touch. We will ask what you run and what you want to spend, spec it to that, explain why each part is there, build and cable it properly, and stress test it before it comes to you. If a cheaper part does the job you want, that is the part we will recommend.

Will I lose my games and saves?

Keeping them is the aim, and most repairs do not touch your drive at all. Your library and your saves live on the storage, and a cooling job, a graphics card or a power fault does not go near it. If a job does put your data at risk, we will tell you before we start and back it up first. If the drive itself is the thing failing, that becomes a data recovery job, and we will be straight about what is realistically recoverable.

Is your work guaranteed after the repair?

Yes. We stand behind the repairs we carry out. If the same fault we fixed returns within a reasonable period as a result of our work, get in touch and we will put it right. That does not cover new or unrelated faults, accidental damage, liquid damage, or problems caused by other work carried out after ours, and nothing in it affects your statutory rights.
