FAQ

Everything people want to know.

Straight answers, no jargon. Every repair starts with a free diagnosis and a fixed quote before any work, whatever the fault turns out to be.

Do you come to me?

Yes. We are a come-to-you service across Leeds and the surrounding areas. We will visit your home or your workplace, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 7pm, so you do not have to unplug a whole desk setup or carry an expensive machine across town. If it suits you better, you can drop the machine to us instead. There is no walk-in shop and no counter to queue at.

Do you do remote support, without a visit?

Some faults, yes. Slow machines, software problems, email and printer setup, virus clean-ups and a lot of everyday tech questions can often be sorted over a secure remote link, with no visit needed. Anything physical, a cracked screen, a dead battery, a charging port or a failed drive, needs the machine in front of us. When you call and describe the fault, we will tell you honestly whether remote support can handle it or whether it needs a visit.

How much will it cost?

We do not publish a price list, because the same fault costs different money on different machines, and any figure we printed would be a figure we had to break. The diagnosis is always free. Once we know exactly what is wrong, you get one fixed quote for the whole job before any work starts, so you are deciding with the real number in front of you. No hourly meter, no hidden extras added later.

What decides the price of a repair?

Mainly the parts and the time. A job that needs a new part, a screen, a battery, an SSD or extra memory, costs the price of that part plus the fitting, and some makes and models simply have dearer parts than others. A software job like a virus clean-up or a fresh setup is mostly time. Whether the broken part bolts in or is soldered to the mainboard matters too, because those are two very different jobs. We work all of it out during the free diagnosis and put it in one clear quote.

How fast can you fix it?

It depends on the fault. Software problems are often sorted in the visit. Jobs that need a common part, a battery, a fan clean, a memory or drive upgrade, are usually quick once the part is in hand. Anything model-specific depends on how fast the right part reaches us. Liquid damage is the one job nobody can put a clock on, because the board has to be cleaned and dried properly before it goes near power again. Tell us your deadline when you call and we will be straight with you about whether we can hit it, rather than take the job and let you down.

Is my data safe? Will I lose my files?

Keeping your files intact is always the aim, and most repairs do not touch your data at all. If a job does put your files at risk, we will say so before we start and back them up first. If the drive itself is the thing that is failing, that becomes a data recovery job, and we will be straight with you about what is realistically recoverable rather than promise something we cannot deliver.

What if you cannot fix it?

Then there is nothing to pay for the repair. That is what No Fix, No Fee means. The free diagnosis costs you nothing either way, so there is no risk in asking us to take a look. And if your machine would cost more to fix than it is worth, we will tell you that honestly during the diagnosis rather than sell you a repair you do not need.

Is your work guaranteed after the repair?

Yes. We stand behind the repairs we carry out. If the same fault we fixed returns within a reasonable period as a result of our work, get in touch and we will put it right. That does not cover new or unrelated faults, accidental damage, liquid damage, or problems caused by other work carried out after ours, and nothing in it affects your statutory rights.

What do you fix?

Computers and laptops, Windows and Mac, plus phones and tablets. That covers machines that will not turn on, will not charge, overheat or crash, cracked and dead screens, worn charging ports, tired batteries, virus and malware clean-ups, speed-ups with an SSD or more memory, and data recovery. If you are not sure whether your fault is on the list, call and describe it. The diagnosis is free either way.

Do you fix phones and tablets?

Yes. We handle phone and tablet repair alongside computers and laptops, cracked screens, batteries that do not last, and charging faults on iPhones, Android phones, iPads and Android tablets. As with everything, the diagnosis is free and you get a fixed quote before any work starts.

What areas do you cover?

Leeds and the surrounding areas. We come to you at home or at work, or you can drop the machine to us. Whether it is easiest to visit you or to collect the machine and return it once it is done, the diagnosis is free and the quote comes before the work.

How do I pay?

You pay once, for the job you agreed, after you have seen and accepted the fixed quote. There are no subscriptions, no tie-ins and no contracts. Nothing is billed by a running clock, and nothing happens without your say-so.

Do you help small businesses?

Yes. We help small businesses across Leeds with the same honest, on-call approach, computers and laptops that have stopped working, machines that need setting up, and the everyday tech that keeps a small team running. We keep it simple and fair, with no lock-in. If you want ongoing help, we will still quote each job clearly rather than tie you into a contract.

Can you help me set things up and show me how it works?

Yes. A lot of our work is not a broken machine at all, it is setting up a new laptop or phone, getting email, printers and Wi-Fi working, moving your files across from an old device, and showing you how to use it without being made to feel daft. We will explain things in plain language and at your pace.

Who will I be dealing with?

Jordan Gilbert, the technician who does the work. Leeds Tech Repair is a trading name of TicketWave HQ Ltd. When you call, you get a real person, the one who diagnoses and fixes your machine, not a call centre and not a ticket queue.

Do you ever recommend other tools, and are those affiliate links?

Now and then, yes, but only tools we genuinely use and rate ourselves, and only where they fit, for example a password manager or an encrypted backup after we have set a machine up. Some of those links are affiliate links. If you sign up or buy through them we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. It never changes what we recommend or what we charge you, it is always secondary to the actual repair, and every recommendation is clearly marked with a disclosure wherever it appears.

Still not sure? Just ask.

Tell us what the machine is doing and when it started. We will diagnose it for free, give you a fixed quote before any work, and if we cannot fix it there is nothing to pay.
